Hip Hop Healthy Heart Program for Children

SHAPE Colorado members can access the Shape Up US “Hip Hop Healthy Heart Program for Children” curriculum for FREE!

The “Hip Hop Healthy Heart Program for Children” is a comprehensive 8-module health and wellness curriculum that focuses on the mind, body, and emotions of students in grades K-6. The program encompasses the whole child, helping students learn how to approach situations and solve problems they often face in life through engaging lessons. The curriculum is ready to use immediately and uses an approach based on self-esteem and self-discovery, along with health and wellness, to help students flourish in every aspect of their lives both in and outside the classroom.

The program includes online curriculum and resources with easy-to-follow objectives and worksheets for students, appropriate to their grade levels. Modules include topics on learning how bodies work, encouraging activity and exercise, maintaining healthy eating, and building minds through positive thinking. Students use all five senses as they learn how to effectively communicate, collaborate, and problem solve.

Multipurpose curriculum is great for use in PE programs, classrooms, after-school programs, and camps. Each curriculum set includes 40 lesson plans with background information for teachers, handouts with answer sheets, and tests to assess students. An accompanying rhyme in a hip-hop style summarizes the lessons. Curriculum also features in-class, at-home, and online activities to enhance the learning potential in any setting. Available for grades K-3, 4-6, or a Complete Set with curriculum for K-6.
