VISION STATEMENT:

People Achieving Active, and Healthy Lifestyles

MISSION:

Our mission is to provide leadership, professional development and advocacy for health, physical education, recreation and dance professionals in the state of Colorado.

SHAPE Colorado is a non-profit organization composed of between 300-400 educators and college students majoring in one of the above areas.  We provide an annual convention in October, preconvention and outreach workshops, publications designed to inform and enhance the work of members, and a lobbyist at the state legislature. SHAPE Colorado, in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Education, played a vital role in the establishment and writing of content standards for physical education in Colorado.

SHAPE Colorado has a well-established and highly effective collaboration with the Colorado and Wyoming division of the American Heart Association, especially through the Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart programs.  The SHAPE Colorado Executive Board meets five times yearly (November, January, March, May and September).
