WHO: Health Educators K-12, Elementary School Teachers, School Health Professionals.
WHEN: April 20th, 2021, 4:00pm – 5:30pm
• Build an outline of a skills-based health education unit;
• Review Healthy Kids Colorado Survey Data to inform the unit content;
• Begin to consider how you might assess students’ knowledge and skill gain; and
• Access Moodle Course to determine which student-centered project might fit into your unit best.
During this 90 minute webinar, participants will begin to develop a skills-based unit using a variety of resources, including Healthy Kids Colorado Survey Data. Participants will participate in a step by step, engaging process to consider what students might need to know and be able to do in order to address a concerning data point. Finally, participants will begin to brainstorm how they might assess student knowledge and skill gain.
This session will be presented by Jess Lawrence an enthusiastic, energetic, extroverted educator. She started her career doing exactly what she wanted to do since her own high school experience—teaching 7th graders health education. In 2003, Jess was hired as the Health Education Curriculum Specialist for the Oregon Department of Education, where she provided assistance and professional development to health education teachers across Oregon.
