Sara’s Teaching Journey

Sara’s teaching journey began in 2012 in Charlotte, NC, where she dedicated four years to shaping young minds. Following this, she brought her expertise to the bustling streets of New York City, working in midtown Manhattan as an educator for the Department of Education for three years. In 2019, Sara made the move to the picturesque Colorado Springs, where she has been making a positive impact in the education sector for the past four years.

Currently, Sara is fortunate to teach at an arts integration school, where she skillfully blends movement with the arts in her lessons, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment.

### Movement and Wellness

Sara’s favorite ways to move her body include walking, participating in 5Ks, and practicing yoga. These activities not only contribute to her physical well-being but also inspire her students to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.

Promoting Social and Emotional Health

One of Sara’s standout practices for promoting positive social and emotional health in her classroom is the Mood Meter. Inheriting a space with the Mood Meter on the floor, Sara encourages her students to check in with their emotions throughout lessons. This powerful tool fosters emotional awareness and well-being, creating a supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere.

Becoming a SHAPE Colorado Member

Sara chose to become a member of SHAPE Colorado to find quality professional development opportunities and build connections within her state. As a dedicated educator, she understands the importance of staying informed and connected to enhance her teaching practices.
